July 30 - 31

The team had a rare week free race schedule but were just as busy as they are preparing the "Knoxville" car and I'm sure you will be excited to see this years Knoxville car as it's exactly how Terry wanted it this year. They should listen to Terry more often as it's a super sharp looking car. :))

On Saturday the team traveled to Butler Battlegrounds in Michigan where our racing was cut short but the worst possible thing that could happen. We are still not 100% sure what happened but the fuel tank blew up and burning the snack shack to the ground and taking the life of a gentleman who was severely burned in the incident. Our prayers go out to the family as this was a terrible tragedy and we all pray for that entire family.

Sunday the team ventured just up the road to the Kokomo Speedway for a MASS sanctioned race. Randy was 3rd quick in qualifications, started 6th in heat and ran 2nd. Come feature time he had to start 7th but quickly worked his way up to the front of the pack. By lap 17 he had the lead by passing both Kelly Kinser & Brandon Wimmer in the same lap in turn 2. Somehow the track scorers seemed to miss Randy passing both the leaders and on the next yellow they put Randy behind Kinser. We can be sure there was a complete lap and perhaps almost 2 laps with Randy in the lead. During the first half of the race they sent lapped traffic to the tail, then somewhere along the line I guess they decided it would be better to stick them in there? The whole race was a debacle with the lack of incapable scoring. Maybe this should have been Randy's 3rd win of the 2005 season, maybe Kinser would have gotten  by him, who knows at this point.  On the restart, Randy was able to make a run on Kinser, closing within 1 car but unable to get him and of course that lapped car probably made all the difference. Bottom line of the night, Randy was second. So for us to simply put Randy was second would not give you the whole picture of how Randy missed his 3rd win of the season by the fate of poor scoring.

July 22 & 23

You couldn't have asked for a better weekend then Randy had this weekend. Well maybe two wins instead of 1 win and 1 second place finish. Friday nights race we were off to Knoxville which is one of Randy's favorite tracks and it usually shows when he shows up. He drew a 97 to be placed in the Odd's feature event. You start by draw and earn passing points and feature finish results. At the end of the heats, Randy was in the points lead which garnered him the chance to start on the pole. He got into the lead with Sammy Swindell behind him. Randy lead the first 13 laps and was overcome by Sammy and crossed the stripes in 2nd. Randy was locked into the feature event for Saturday night at Knoxville but since he has made a commitment to the All Stars to run their entire schedule, he is a man of his word and we headed off to St. Francois Speedway in Farmington, Missouri.

Farmington is a bit like Pocono Raceway, oddly shaped. Randy qualified 8th and by two guys missing the transfer spot that placed him on the pole once again. Randy was able to lead all 40 laps of the feature and bring home his second win of the year, his first in All-Star Competition. For complete results click the links below.

Friday - Knoxville Raceway Results        Saturday - All Star Results

July 19, 2005

Randy was glad he made the trip over to Lernerville for the World of Outlaw Silver Cup race. He had a super run and started his night off right by qualifying 6th out of 44 cars. He was able to transfer through his heat into the first Stacker 2 Dash and he found himself in victory lane after the 6 lap shootout. His win in the dash earned him the right to start from the pole position. He felt maybe he could have tightened his car up some more and he would have been a little better at the end. All in all with his 5th place finish he was happy with the way the night went. With his new Gaerte power plant he seems to have found some magic as of late.

July 13th - July 16th

With the All Stars having a few weeks off, Randy once again hit the World of Outlaw circuit. Wednesday it was off to Attica Raceway in Ohio for the Brad Doty Classic. There were over 60 cars in the pits vying for 24 spots. Randy qualified last and on a dry slick track, that wasn't the best place to be. He was able to turn his 34th qualifying spot into a transfer to the feature event with a fine run in the heat race from the 9th position. Come feature time, he started 24 and quickly disposed of his competitors as he had a clear advantage over some of the World of Outlaw regulars since Randy has run there 4 times already this year. He had a superb run clear up to the 10th spot!

**Night Before the Kings Royal**As many of you know this is certainly a prestigious race and on Friday night, it's a tune up night for the Kings Royal on Saturday. Friday Randy clocked in 9th quick, ran third in his heat race and 2nd in the dash which would place him 4th on the starting grid. He was off to a great start while running 3rd for the first half of the race. There was a restart where he fell  back to 6th when he suddenly stopped on the back stretch. A nozzle line (motor part) was knocked off and ended his good run. He did return to the track but pulled in for the night. Very disappointing finish to end a really good night.

**Kings Royal**Is it possible to draw the last qualifying pill 2 out of 3 nights? Well, Randy did on this very important night. He went out last and posted a 34th qualifying time which is not ideal when they only invert the top 24 into 6 heat races instead of 4 so only the top two rows are inverted. That meant Randy had to start 7th in his heat but he quickly picked up his great run from Friday night when he brought the THR car home to the 2nd spot in the heat race. He started 18th in the Kings Royal and in 20 laps he was up to 10th spot. There was a red flag for a flip on the race track and the crew could see his tire was blistering and so the hopes were the tire would even last until the end of the race. It held on but a few guys got by him in the last 20th laps and he ended up 14th.

All in all he had a pretty good week back with the World of Outlaws. Two of the nights he felt he should have been better. Friday should have been top 5 but as you know, anything can happen on dirt. Hit a run, hit a hole, mud flung in your face, banging off the cushion too hard, etc. So Randy will build upon his good week and keep him momentum up. He's got a new Gearte engine and it's been wonderful and although this weeks results didn't really show it, he's on the right track for some more wins soon! Stay tuned.................

July 6th - July 9th

Randy returned to the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series on the 6th and 8th. First he was off to Beaver Dam, WI where he turned in an 8th quick time, 6th in his heat and had to win the B-Main to transfer. He wound up 12th in the feature. He then headed to Joliet, IL where he was 13th in qualifying, 5th in his heat race and was 15th in the feature. Had he not run over glass in qualifications, perhaps he could have bettered his time? Saturday night he headed towards one of his favorite tracks, Knoxville! It was the Wells Fargo Twin Feature night. He qualified a disappointing 16th, won his heat race which transferred him into the Features. His car was just not good in the first feature, he moved up a few spots and finished 12th. The second feature he had to start 11th and with a car that was completely changed as far as the set up went. At the drop of the green flag he got in a crash and the crew was able to make quick repairs to get him back in the race but he then had to start the tail. End result was a lot of torn up equipment but a much better run with a 7th place finish from the tail!

We are off to the Brad Doty Classic on Wednesday and the big Kings Royal weekend at Eldora.

June 24th - July 2nd

Wow, what a week! We all made it thanks to a couple of rainouts that we really didn't want to have. Night one was Lernerville. Randy had his new Gearte engine in and worked through a few gears changes before the main event which found him starting 22nd and finished in a strong 8th place.

Night 1 of Speedway at Eldora was rained out.

Night 2 was at Attica Raceway Park. Randy had to start in the back due to his late qualifying draw and in the feature he ended up finishing 13th.

Night 3  we were off to Zanesville, OH a track that the sprints haven't visited in quite some time.  Randy seemed to like this semi banked 3/8 mile track. He turned in a qualifying effort of 14, not where he would have liked but come feature time the team found some speed and a great setup as Randy started 13th and ended up 3rd and was closing, had we went 5 more laps, Randy could have been victorious.

Night 4 at Raceway 7 was rained out.

Night 5  was off to Sharon Speedway where Randy once again started 13th and had to find his way to the front. What a run again tonight! He ended up 5th in the feature! Things are working out well with the new motor and some much needed chassis changes.

Night 6 took us to Fremont. There was a torrential downpour around 2 in the afternoon which absolutely helped this race track and made it the best it has ever been. Randy qualified 12th and transferred via his heat race. He started 14th and finished 13th in the main event. The car was not to his liking and so tight it would hardly go around the corner.

Night 7 found us at Limaland where he qualified 14th, won his heat race and finished 10th in the feature.

Night 8 and Final Night he qualified 24th, won his heat race and drove up from the 23rd starting spot to finish in a well deserved 10th spot.

This coming weekend is still up in the air as to where we will be on Saturday night. We will be at one of three places. Either KC Raceway in Ohio, Mount Pelier, IN for the MASS race or at Knoxville to prepare for the Nationals? Since we will be leaving on Wednesday morning for Beaver Dam, WI, we will not be able to update the site until our return so you may check out the websites for these three tracks if your following closely for results.

HANNAGAN GETS 1ST WIN OF 2005 SEASON AT I-55 RACEWAY

Click on the link above to see photos and to read about Randy's Victory!!

This turned out to be a very busy week for the team. After returning home from Pennsylvania last weekend, they headed to Kokomo for the WoO show. It was not his best night and just chalk that up to a bad night. Randy was determined to head over to Pevely where he was once victorious in 2001. He would find himself in victory lane there once again. This is his first win of the 2005 season. After returning home at 4 AM the next morning, he was full of energy and drove back 5 hours! Friday the team headed to Pennsylvania yet again and had a good nights rest and then off to Port Royal. When Randy went to qualify the motor expired leaving him crunching for time to get a qualifying lap in. He pulled out a back up car, quickly readied it for his one lap and was able to make the invert and transfer to the feature via his heat race. He started 19th due to his one lap qualifying but worked his way up to finish 12th. Good night all in all considering all of the problems that they were having. Well, he knew that the MASS series was racing at Haubstadt, Indiana and he loves that track. So much that we drove 14 hours to get there to race on Sunday evening. It was well worth his trip except for his draw which found him next to last. He did manage to get up to the 4th spot to transfer, however they only take the top 3 to dashes. No worries, Randy was working it high, middle, low, where ever he had to get his THR #1x car to the front. After the leaders pulled away, he ran out of time but made a super effort to come home in 4th which was up from his 16th starting spot. Believe it or not he finally made it back home only to get back up early this morning to get geared up for the 9 nights of racing starting Friday.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT SINCE WE WILL BE ON THE ROAD, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UPDATE UNTIL WE RETURN. HOWEVER, YOU CAN GET DAILY RESULTS FROM WWW.HOSEHEADS.COM AND THEIR MESSAGE BOARD WHICH I KNOW REPORTS THE RESULTS NIGHTLY. YOU CAN ALSO CHECK THE WWW.ALLSTARSPRINT.COM WEBSITE AS THEY ALSO POST RESULTS.

June 3rd & 4th Update

Randy got off to a great night at Sharon Speedway with a 10th place qualifying effort with the World of Outlaws. His heat race found him comfortable in 3rd when with 1 lap to go his tire went flat ending his bid for a dash run. Instead he ended up in the B-Main with again a tire problem thus ending his night. Bad end to a beautiful beginning. Saturday took him to one of his favorite tracks, Eldora Speedway. He timed in 13th out of 38 cars and ran a strong 3rd in his heat race. He made the dash and finished 6th. Randy started 12th in the feature and from about lap 7 he had yet again a tire going flat. What a bizarre weekend with tires! WoO has a rule, unless it's totally flat you cannot change the tire and under greens the tire was able to build some heat and get some pressure back in it. So with an ill handling car he would finish a disappointing 15th.

May 20-May 21

Finally an entire weekend of warm weather / no rain here in the midwest. This allowed two consecutive nights of racing in the state of Michigan with the All Star Sprint Series. Hartford on Friday was a bit of a disappointment with a 14th place feature finish. But at the Butler Battlegrounds, Randy faired much better by bringing home the Terry Hannagan Racing #1x home in 2nd place in the feature. For a complete story of the weekends races, please click the All Star link below.   The All Stars have been very good to Randy this year and he's really enjoying racing with them for the year. He is currently 5th in the points and the top 8 guys are so close. With his 2nd last evening, it was a big help. Tidbit for the weekend: Randy has raced at Butler 2x's now and has finished 2nd there both times. Perhaps 3rd time will be charm?

May 15-16th

Mother Nature took the win this weekend with the K-C Raceway All-Star/WoO races being rained out on Saturday night. The team headed to Haubstadt on Sunday for a MASS race. No qualifications, but the much dreaded pill draw. Randy drew 50 out of 50 so he started last in the 1st heat race. He finished 6th but with a car being DQ'd he would start the pole of the B-Main. He took a commanding lead the whole race and with only 4 laps remaining, a group of cars spun. As Randy was over taking a lapped car on the outside, that car moved up the track and sent Randy flipping into the air, first into the wall and then into the billboards along the outside of  turns 1 & 2. Randy was uninjured, but the car was too damaged thus ending his night.

We head to Michigan next week for 2 nights of All-Star racing and both tracks have presented Randy with good finished. Stay tuned for results from next weekends action.

April 29-30, 2005

After being the fastest in practice on Friday night, Randy had a nozzle line get knocked off his motor as he was coming around for his 1st lap of time trials. They said the transponder recorded a time, even though he stopped and it this found him last in qualifications. He won the D-Main and placed 6th in the C-Main, ending his great night early. The second night found him 10th out of 58 cars, and he ran 3rd in his heat which placed him 14th on the grid for the feature. When he came in from the feature, his right rear had chunks out of it and therefore he found himself back in 20th.

April 23, 2005

Knoxville Raceway Season Opener

Randy was off to a fine start with a 2nd place qualifying run in time trials. He placed 3rd in his heat race from 6th starting spot.

The pill draw for the feature was an 8, yikes, which placed him 7th on the starting grid for the Feature event. He had worked his way up to 4th, passing for third when he suddenly darted off to the pits. The motor had a burnt piston and ended Randy's night. Sad ending to what was otherwise a great evening, except for the frigid temperatures. :))

April 15-16, 2005

All-Star Sprint Results

Randy has moved up to 5th in All-Star points after a good weekend at Attica Raceway Park. A track which before has been his nemeses.

He had a 12 place finish Friday and a 9th place finish on Saturday
